The Top 10 Local News Stories of 2019: #4 and #3

#4: Five South Winneshiek students were arrested in February in a case involving sexual assault charges with another student. 

Four of those arrested were juveniles who were referred to juvenile court, so details of those court cases were not released.  The fifth student, 18-year-old Braxton Smith,  entered an Alford plea--a "no contest" plea--to a simple misdemeanor charge of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.  He was sentenced to serve a self-probation for 6 months.

#3: Decorah native Brian Fullhart went on trial in Cresco in July on a charge of first degree murder in the March 1, 2018 death of his wife, Decorah native Zoanne Fullhart.  After a jury convicted Fullhart of the charge, he was sentenced to life in prison: https://www.decorahnews.com/archived-stories/2019/08/23102.html
