Supporters of the Freeport Trail came out in force on a sunny September Sunday afternoon at the Freeport Park for an official dedication of the trail.
The ribbon cutting signified the opening of the trail--which cost $2,381,277.10. Winneshiek County, which paid for the project, received a $1.6 million TIGER grant from the federal government to help pay for the project and also used funds raised by the Trails From Freeport group, Farm to Market funds and local road funds.
