The members of the Northeast Iowa Community College Board of Trustees represent nine different districts within the NICC district. The boundaries of those districts will be changing for the next NICC election--but only in the southern part of the district.
NICC vice president of finance and administration John Noel says the redistricting work was done in compliance with state and federal law and reflects changes in population data from the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau report. "With the census every ten years, we need to draw and possibly re-draw district lines to make the populations in each district as equal as possible," Noel said.
Director Districts 1, 2, 3 and 4, which consist of school districts in Northeast Iowa counties such as Howard, Chickasaw, Fayette, Winneshiek and Allamakee counties, will not change. Changes were made to the districts in the southern part of the NICC district due to population growth in Dubuque.
