Courthouse clock is running again

Jerry Thompson of Decorah has e-mailed Mr. Answer Person: "Hats off to the person who repaired the Court House Clock. It looks great to see the hands of time roll on!"

Thank you, Jerry, for noticing this!  It reminds Mr. Answer Person of one of his all-time favorite questions, which was "Why has the Courthouse clock stopped working?"  That led to a climb to the tower of the Courthouse with Decorah resident Mark Burgdorf, a man of many talents.

Mark found himself in charge of maintenance of the courthouse clock after complaining to county supervisors a number of years ago when the clock stopped working.  The supervisors turned around and hired Burgdorf to take a look at the clock--and he's been at it ever since.
