View from the top of the courthouse is spectacular

It will take you 60 steps up a winding staircase that starts on the third floor of the Winneshiek County Courthouse, but when you get to the catwalk around the bell tower of the courthouse, the view of downtown Decorah is spectacular.  It's a view that few people get to see because the door to the staircase is locked and access is tightly restricted.

Courthouse workers who are lucky enough to have taken in the view say fall is the best time of the year to be on top of the courthouse--the view with the trees in color is breathtaking
