Decorah's Seed Savers Exchange is getting some national publicity on a TV program on the Bravo Network.
Portland, Oregon chef Naomi Pomeroy will be among the 12 chefs competing for top honors on season three of "Top Chef Masters," which begins April 6th on Bravo.
Prize money on the program will go to the favorite charities of the chefs,
not to the chefs personally. Pomeroy has announced she will be playing for Seed Savers Exchange, the Decorah-based non-profit organization that works to preserve heritage and heirloom vegetables.
"I decided to play for something that was a national cause I wanted to raise awareness of, which was the protection of heirloom seeds," she told the Portland Oregonian. "A lot of people know about animal extinction and pay a lot of attention to that, but much less attention is paid to plant life extinction, specifically with food products."
