Northeast Iowa nears 5,000 total COVID-19 cases

The total number of COVID-19 cases in NE Iowa now sits just shy of 5K. The six-county region total is now at 4,955 cases. This is an increase of over 800 cases in one week.


Clayton County continues to have the highest number of total cases in the six-county region with 1,036 (466 recovered, 4 deaths, 566 active). Fayette County follows with 884 total cases (388 recovered, 8 deaths, 588 active). Winneshiek County reports 908 total cases (530 recovered, 10 deaths, 368 active); Chickasaw County reports 793 total cases (613 recovered, 3 deaths, 177 active); Allamakee County reports 728 total cases (375 recovered, 11 deaths, 342 active); Howard County reports 506 total cases (264 recovered, 9 deaths, 233 active).


The 14-day average of positive cases in NE Iowa shows Chickasaw County at 27%, Clayton County at 26%, Fayette and Howard counties both at 20%, Allamakee County at 19%, and Winneshiek County at 15%. Together, the region currently has a 14-day average COVID-19 test positivity rate of 20%.
