Wellington Place reports that ten residents have COVID-19

Posted: Tue, Nov 10, 2020 11:14 AM

Ten residents at Wellington Place in Freeport have had their COVID-19 tests come back positive.

Wellington Place Administrator Scott Marnin says the facility does routine testing of its residents.  For the first time this year, tests came back positive on four residents before the weekend, then another six residents had tests come back positive.  No residents have had positive test results during a new round of testing.

Marnin says the ten residents are now in isolation, with nine of them not showing any symptoms.  If the residents go for ten days and are symptom-free at the end of that time, they can come out of isolation.

All ten of the residents who have tested positive are from the nursing home portion of Wellington Place--no residents of the assisted living facility at Wellington Place have tested positive.

Because of the COVID-19 results, Wellington Place has cancelled indoor in-person visits to its residents.  The facility is still scheduling visits where residents talk through a window to family members or friends standing on the outside of the building.  Those procedures will be ended and visitation will return to normal once all ten residents have successfully gone through isolation and no new cases have been found.
