


(The following letter to the editor has been submitted by Janet Alexander of Decorah):
"My father and father-in-law both fought in WW II with the Navy, in the South Pacific. They were fighting for our freedom and the continuation of our democracy. They have since passed on.
Both of them were life-long Republicans. I know what they gave to preserve our democracy and I think they would be shattered to hear President Trump say that he 'would not commit to providing a peaceful transition of power after Election Day.' A peaceful transition, and acceptance of election results is the cornerstone of a democracy, and to say otherwise leaves our democracy in a shambles.
I urge you not to vote for a man who threatens the democracy my father and father-in-law fought for so valiantly."
