The number of absentee ballots for this year's election has already set a record and is continuing to go higher.
Winneshiek County Auditor Ben Steines says 8,050 absentee ballots have been cast as of Wednesday morning. Another 650 absentee ballots which were sent out have not been returned yet. Registered voters can also cast an absentee ballot in person at the Auditor's Office through Monday.
Steines tells the public, "A good reminder to those 650 is to get (their absentee ballot) filled out and returned ASAP to try to make sure it gets here by Election Day, so there are no questions on whether it can be counted or not."
