Habitat for Humanity has asked its chapters, including Winneshiek County Habitat for Humanity, to follow COVID-19 guidelines when building new houses this year.

Winneshiek County Habitat for Humanity has followed those guidelines this summer and fall while building its newest home in Calmar.  Local volunteers have worked Tuesdays and Saturdays since July, practicing social distancing and wearing masks when needed.  WCHfH executive director Gary Johnson says, "This has  been a core group of men and women who show up and keep Winneshiek County Habitat for Humanity building."

Among this year's volunteers are Roger Downs, Ken Vande Berg, Bob Krzyzanowski, Chris Wyse, Jim Ludeking, Mark Elsbernd, Morgan Martin, Vicky Geyer, Larry Stevenson, George Tekippe, Gary Hildebrand, Dan O'Brian and Lloyd Fleshner.
