Deer cause multiple accidents in Decorah

The Decorah Police Department reports three separate accidents involving deer in the roadway.

On October 13th, 51-year-old Sharon Sander-Palmer of Monona was traveling eastbound on Highway 9 when a deer exited the ditch from the north and ran into the driver's side of her 2019 Jeep Compass. The accident caused $2,000 of damage to her vehicle. No injuries were reported.

On October 18th, 45-year-old Kielo King of Apple Valley, Minnesota was traveling northbound on Highway 52 just north of Pole Line Road in Decorah when he struck a deer that was standing in the roadway. King's 2018 Chevrolet Equinox sustained $5,000 of damage. No injuries were reported.

On Tuesday of this week, 64-year-old Cheryl McConnell of Decorah was traveling north on Locust Road in the 1000 block when a deer ran into the path of her vehicle. The deer struck the front left driver's side of McConnell's 2016 Subaru Forrester and then ran off. The vehicle sustained $2,500 of damage. No injuries were reported.
