The Seamsters Union of Winneshiek County, a group of local volunteers that is making and distributing masks to counter the spread of COVID-19, says it has sewn more than 31,000 masks so far. The face masks created by the volunteers are still available during regular business hours at The Depot Outlet, Oneota Community Food Coop, Decorah Bicycles, and Decorah Farmers Market. Free will donations help to cover the cost of supplies.
In addition to the masks, the group has so far sewn 382 PPE gowns, crocheted 489 "ear savers" and delivered face masks and PPE gowns to 97 area businesses and organizations.
