Winneshiek Medical Center Trustees have approved spending $200,000 on new equipment to back up the medical center's digital files.
The new "Storage Area Network" will consist of two units — one on-site at the hospital and a second off-site at Luther College. The two units will replace three current units that have become antiquated, including one tape backup machine.
Winneshiek Medical Center spent $2.5 million in 2017 for new software from Epic--the same software system used at the University of Iowa Hospitals. The patient record software went into operation in August of 2018.
