Locally-focused Facebook group digs deep into history of Winneshiek County

"Historic sites of Decorah and Winneshiek Co., IA" is a Facebook group created in 2011 that is dedicated to sharing the county's past and present historical moments.

Historic photos range from the Decorah Volunteer Fire Department during their centennial in 1949 to train engine remains from a Calmar tornado in 1918. More recent landmarks, such as videos of the Dunnings Spring bridge construction, are also highlighted.

Decorah Genealogy Association President Kevin Lee says, "['Historic sites of Decorah and Winneshiek Co., IA'] is packed with historic photos and conversations about local history, genealogy and events local to historic preservation." Lee is also an active member of the Facebook group.
