Plans to improve 911 communications within Winneshiek County are getting a boost. The Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors has approved bonding for new communication towers within the county to be used by the 911 system. At the same time, a previous bond issue with a higher interest rate will be paid off by the new bond, saving the county over $30,000.
The money to repay the new bond will come from collections from the 9-1-1 surcharge fees from local telephone bills.
