Luther College is cancelling the in-person observance of Homecoming scheduled for October 9th, 10th and 11th.
Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the risks involved with gathering in large groups, the decision was made to prioritize the safety and well-being of alumni, students, faculty and staff, and the Decorah community.
In place of the in-person Homecoming will be online events that will bring alumni together virtually during the fall. With the majority of the college's student population returning to campus in October, additional provisional plans include creating a student-focused Homecoming this fall.
Milestone Reunions (classes of 1970, 1980, 1985, 1995 and 2010) formerly scheduled for this year's Homecoming have been rescheduled to be held in-person on campus during Memorial Day weekend from May 28th to May 30th in 2021. Next year's Homecoming remains on the schedule for October 1-3, 2021.
"We look forward to the day when we can welcome our many alumni and friends back to campus and our town during those two weekends," said President Jenifer K. Ward.
