The Iowa Department of Public Health had updated its coronavirus website to show there was one new COVID-19 case in Winneshiek County, increasing the cumulative positive count from 24 to 25.
Now, however, comes word that the new case was assigned to the wrong county. The Winneshiek County Public Health Office says they checked it out because Public Health had not been notified of any additional cases.
That's when local health department workers learned the new case belongs to another county and was inadvertently marked as Winneshiek in the system that is used.
Meanwhile, Allamakee County still has 31 active cases. Chickasaw County has 7 active cases. Clayton County still has 5 active cases. Fayette County has one active case. Howard County has 2 active cases.
Statewide, there are 8,958 active positive cases.
