Many area rivers are on the rise, with flooding expected along the Turkey River

The National Weather Service Office in La Crosse is predicting moderate flooding of Turkey River at Spillville in the wake of Tuesday's heavy rainfalls.

The Weather Service expects the Turkey River to crest at 12.1 feet in Spillville on Wednesday.  Any reading over the 11-foot river level is considered "moderate" flooding.  The Turkey River at Spillville is expected to crest quickly, however, and to go below flood level by early Thursday morning.

However, communities downstream from Spillville also should expect flooding, with flood crest in Elkader expected to hit 18 feet and Garber expected to hit 21.5 feet.  Both readings would produce "moderate" flooding.
