Winneshiek County Supervisors have given thumbs up approval to plans by the City of Decorah to redo Court Street later this year. Supervisors got an update on the project Monday from City Street Department Director Jeremy Bril.
The plans call for replacing the old curbing on Court Street on the block where the Courthouse sits. The Court Street/West Main Street intersection also would be redone. Brick pavers would be removed but put back in the walkways, and the intersection would be improved so that it is no longer "a rollercoaster," in Bril's words.
Another part of the project calls for ADA-compliant ramps to be installed at the intersection—a move praised by the supervisors.
The entire project is expected to begin later this year and carry a price tag of between $150,000 to $175,000, depending upon the scope of the work.
"We're happy to have the work done," supervisor Dean Thompson told Bril.
