Letter to the Editor: Why doesn't Winneshiek County Sheriff Dan Marx speak out more against police abuse around the state and country?

(The following Letter to the Editor has been submitted by Rand Hansen of Calmar):

"On June 1st, Winneshiek County Sheriff Dan Marx made a Facebook post in response to the recent events causing unrest and distrust throughout our nation.

He speaks of constitutional rights of freedom of speech and right to assemble and protest, but then goes on and calls some of the protesters who, like the police, used violence and called them 'terrorists,' a very poor choice of words by Dan Marx.

Trump on Twitter has shared a letter that referred to the peaceful protesters who were forcibly dispersed from a park near the White House on Monday evening as 'terrorists.'  Does Dan Marx agree with Trump's handling of the whole situation?

We need to know.  We have police around the country attacking non-violent protesters with tear gas and rubber bullets.  That is what I would call terrorism also.

So my question to Dan is, 'Does he agree with Trump as a Republican and as a law officer and why doesn't he speak out more against police abuse around the state and country?'"
