Decorah High School announces plan for recognizing scholarship awardees and benefactors

Posted: Mon, Jun 1, 2020 11:02 AM

With the cancellation of the Decorah High School Awards Ceremony due to COVID-19, the recognition of the graduation seniors' scholarships and their benefactors will be approached in a few new ways.

The Foundation Scholarships will be recognized with a full page ad in the Decorah Driftless Journal. Each student will also receive a certificate that describes the scholarship and the donor, along with a certificate holder. Benefactors and their donations will be printed in the commencement ceremony program.

Decorah School District Scholarship Chair Elizabeth Fritz says, "These are unprecedented times. We know we cannot duplicate the face-to-face connection, but we hope that we are able to acknowledge the contributions of our donors and celebrate our students in this way."

Students are also encouraged to connect with benefactors by reaching out with thank you cards and sharing goals of their future education.

Fritz goes on to say,  "We want to thank you (the benefactors) for your ongoing support of the Foundation's Scholarship Program. Your scholarship continues to help students achieve their educational goals."
