As of Monday, there have been 112 positive cases of COVID-19 diagnosed in Allamakee County. On a per person basis, that ranks Allamakee County 8th out of Iowa's 99 counties for highest number of cases.
On Monday, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds confirmed state health officials sent a COVID-19 strike force to Allamakee County last week. Reynolds said at a news conference that a team of state health officials, along with a group of National Guard soldiers, visited the Agristar meat processing plant in the middle of last week. Reynolds told reporters the group made a visit to Postville to determine "the scope of the virus," but gave no further details.
