City of Decorah officials are trying to gaze into the crystal ball to be able to plan for reductions in certain tax collections. City Clerk/Treasurer Wanda Hemesath says state officials are predicting a 25 percent reduction in future road tax collections because of the drop in travel brought on by the coronavirus epidemic.
Hemesath says the city's hotel/motel tax collections could see an even greater impact. She says the city should get a better picture of the financial impact of the coronavirus in late April.
