The Decorah bald eagles have their first egg of the season.
The egg was laid at 5:44 p.m. Wednesday evening, with both the mother and the egg appearing to be doing well. The egg at the Decorah nest near the Fish Hatchery joins the egg laid earlier this week at the Decorah North nest.
Any additional eggs are expected to be laid in about 3 to 5 days. Then, hatching will begin roughly 35 to 37 days after. Eaglets can take more than 24 hours to make their debuts once hatching first begins.
