Letter sent to Ridge Road residents says construction work could resume in late March

Work on repairing the lower part of Ridge Road began last fall, but was only partially completed because of bad weather.
In a letter sent to over 200 residents of Ridge Road, Pine Crest, Locust Road, and other nearby roads, the City of Decorah says work on lower Ridge Road will resume "as soon as conditions permit this spring (approximately late March)."
The letter says the remaining work will take approximately one month to complete. Crews will leave alone the two center lanes, but will replace the gutter areas along both sides.
When that project is finished, work will switch to paving all of Ridge Road from Meadow Court to approximately 719 Ridge Road, where the street is in "poor condition." During this phase of the project, half of the street will be closed while crews work on the other half. Traffic will always be allowed to use the open lane for travel up the hill, while traffic which normally would have gone downhill will be detoured to Locust Road.
The City of Decorah says access to homes along the hill will be maintained as much as possible. There will be some times when construction will require the closing of the entire street and in these cases, vehicles would be parked at the ends of the project, while temporary transportation such as golf carts would be supplied.
Anyone with questions is asked to contact City Engineer Jeremy Bril at (563) 382-2157 or Project Manager John Hjelle at Erdman Engineering at (563) 382-4194.
