Decorah Police respond to two weekend accidents

Decorah Police were called on to handle two traffic accidents over the weekend.

Saturday afternoon around 12:15, 61-year-old Greg Vanney of Valley City, North Dakota made a left turn from Day Street onto East Broadway, but became distracted and struck a parked car on Broadway, causing an estimated $2,000 in damages.  Vanney was ticketed for Failure to Maintain Control.

Sunday morning around 10:00, 62-year-old Charles Hammel of Dorchester turned left onto Mechanic Street from West Main Street and struck the side of a vehicle driven by Maryna Bazylevych of Decorah, causing a total of $4,000 in damages.  Hammel was ticketed for Failure to Yield the Right-of-way.
