Following the closing of The Clay Studio of Decorah, owner Rachelle Branum and ArtHaus Executive Director Shannon Dallenbach Durbin have brought the two businesses full circle.
The Clay Studio began in partnership with ArtHaus in 2009, and now ArtHaus will run a full clay studio to complete its studio offerings. Branum will continue to collaborate with ArtHaus to offer after school and summer workshops in clay at their location at 107 West Broadway Street in Decorah.
"ArtHaus did not buy The Clay Studio business," says Dallenbach Durbin, "so not everything is exactly the same for patrons of that shop. But we are incorporating clay and ceramic elements back into our already existing art program. We are delighted to have Rachelle's help in guiding us and providing us with the equipment needed to make our program more robust."
Branum addds, "I originally started The Clay Studio when the clay program at ArtHaus grew too large for the former Water Street space. I'm excited to see it back at ArtHaus in the larger location, and I am happy to still be part of the program, teaching Mud Club after school."
ArtHaus will host a Spring Open Haus on March 14th from 1:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. to showcase the updates to the studio and launch the summer calendar.
