The National Weather Service Office in La Crosse has updated its latest weather forecasts, issuing a Winter Storm Warning for Decorah and much of the Tri-State area.

Forecasters say, "the highest snowfall totals look to be along and north of the Interstate 90 corridor, with the heaviest falling Sunday morning. In addition, some light icing is possible across parts of Northeast Iowa and far southwest Wisconsin."

For Winneshiek County, heavy snow accumulations are predicted, with 5 to 8 inches of snow falling, with locally heavier amounts.  Up to 1/10 of an inch of icing is also possible.  The heaviest snow will fall between 4:00 a.m. Sunday and noon Sunday.  Hourly snow rates during this time could reach 1 to 2 inches per hour.

The National Weather Service office says, "Travel will be impacted Sunday, so those with travel plans should prepare now and alter or delay (trips) if possible."  Forecasters are also advising the public to check road conditions prior to any travel.
