Decorah Public Library begins "Baby Time" story hour

Posted: Thu, Feb 6, 2020 8:40 AM

Starting Friday, babies up to 24 months old and their caregivers will have their own storytime at Decorah Public Library.

"The research is clear that talking, singing, reading, writing (drawing), and playing during early childhood have a profound influence on children's learning," notes Children's and Young Adult Librarian Rachael Button.

Baby Time will consist not only of reading aloud but also of lap bounces, songs, facilitated activities for caregivers and babies, and time afterwards for caregivers and babies to play or read together. Expectant parents are also welcome at this event.

Baby Time will be held on Friday mornings from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The library also offers Toddle Time on Monday mornings from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Toddle Time is designed for children 18 months to 3 years of age, with an adult caregiver.

Baby Time and Toddle Time are free, open to the public, and require no registration. Questions can be directed to Rachael Button at 563-382-3717.
