Decorah resident Mike Ashbacher is known as the city's Fire Chief.  But his regular job is working for Gundersen AIR, the helicopter housed in Decorah that's part of Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse.

The La Crosse Tribune has just profiled Ashbacher for passing the 2,000 flight milestone in the helicopter service.  "In our industry, 2,000 flights — that's a pretty big milestone," the Tribune quotes Gundersen AIR program director Stephanie Hill as saying.  Only two other employees of Gundersen AIR have ever passed the milestone.
