Nominations being sought for Dairy Banquet awards

The Winneshiek County Dairy Promotion Board is seeking the public's help in recognizing the accomplishments of county dairymen, dairywomen and youth.

Nominations are being sought by March 6th for six different awards. The names of the awards are below, along with a short description of each.

*"Outstanding Young Dairy Producer" honors dairy farmers age 40 and younger who have excelled in management and production within the dairy community.

*"Distinguished Service Award" is given to someone who has made an impact or contributions to the dairy industry in Winneshiek County.

*"Distinguished Dairy Family Award" is awarded to an entire family which is involved in a dairy farm and local youth programs and supports the dairy industry.

 *"Pioneer Dairy Producer Award" is given to a producer who has made a significant contribution to the dairy industry. This person or group of people must be no longer involved in
the production of milk.

 *"Dairy Promoter of the Year Award" acknowledges businesses or individuals who are strong supporters of REAL dairy products in the community or through their business.

 *"Outstanding Dairy Employee Award" is for an employee on a dairy farm who has gone above and beyond to achieve success for his or her employer.

In addition, college scholarships will be awarded to eligible students living in Winneshiek County who are pursuing an agriculture-related career.

The Winneshiek County Dairy Promotion board is also seeking candidates for Little Miss Squirt, Little Mister Herdsman, and Winneshiek County Dairy Princess/Ambassador. The deadline for these candidates is March 9th.

The Little Miss Squirt and Little Mister Herdsman contestants must live in Winneshiek County or the family may be employed in Winneshiek County in the dairy industry.  The child must be between ages of 9 to 11 on or before March 31st.

Dairy Princess Candidates/Ambassadors must live in Winneshiek County or the family may be employed in Winneshiek County in the dairy industry.  
The candidate must be between 16 to 21 years old on or before March 31st and active in the dairy industry.

The 57th Annual Winneshiek County Dairy Banquet will be held Saturday, April 4th at the Festina Community Center.
