Paul Scott comment: Forget "Electability" and vote your passion

It's finally time for the 2020 Iowa Caucuses. After Monday night the Presidential candidates and the network TV satellite trucks will have headed down I-80 and we'll once again be able to watch television without sitting through a slew of political ads.
I've always thought the practice of news media endorsing a particular candidate is a mistaken one. Our job, I believe, is to tell you what politicians are saying--and to determine if what they're saying is accurate. Beyond that, a Des Moines Register endorsement isn't going to sway me.
But I do have one piece of advice I'd like you to consider carefully. Whatever you do, caucus for a candidate you're passionate about--and not for one the news media believes is "most electable." Because the news media's record on accurately predicting who will get elected is a pretty mediocre one. Remember President Hillary Clinton? I didn't think so. Or President Jeb Bush? Or President Al Gore? For that matter, there were a lot of news media predicting Donald Trump "could never win." How did that prediction turn out?
So ignore what news reporters are saying--except for what this news reporter is saying. Caucus for the person you think would do the best job of being President. Accept no substitutes!
