Decorah firefighters called to Luther dormitory

The Decorah Fire Department was called to Miller Hall on the Luther College campus shortly after 7:30 Wednesday night.
On arrival, firefighters learned the sprinkler system had been activated, however, there was smoke in the building. Firefighters were directed to a dormitory room on the second floor of the building and found a small burned area in the room. Luther personnel shut the sprinkler system off. Smoke was ventilated from the room and building.
There were no occupants in the room when the fire was noticed. No injuries were reported. The fire is still under investigation.
The Decorah Fire Department was assisted by the Decorah Police Department, Winneshiek Medical Center ambulance, Luther Security and maintenance personnel and the Winneshiek County Dispatch Center.
