Visits to the doctor's office by employees of the Winneshiek County Road Department could be handled differently in the future.
County Engineer Lee Bjerke says he would like to use a system now used by the Howard County Road Department. When a highway employee needs to visit a doctor, they're given a sheet that must be signed by the doctor and includes the starting and ending time of the doctor's office visit.
Bjerke says county road employees sometimes have been taking a full day of medical leave for a doctor's visit, but he'd like medical leave to be used for a full day when an employee is sick.
