Partial relief may be in store for East Main Street residents tired of crumbling pavement

It's not a complete reconstruction of East Main Street in Decorah and it's not even the complete length of the road, but the Decorah City Streets Committee is proposing that four blocks of the street receive an asphalt overlay next summer.

The project is one of three proposed overlay projects with a combined cost of $436,000.  Valley View Drive and William Street are also on the list of proposed projects.  The Streets Committee's recommendation next will be discussed in budget sessions after the first of the year.

In August, a readers poll on decorahnews.com named East Main Street "Decorah's worst street."
