


On Saturday at Independence High School, 51 Decorah High School musicians participated in the Iowa All-State Music auditions. The students prepared difficult musical selections and then competed for spots in the All-State ensembles with students from East Central and Northeast Iowa, including Dubuque and Cedar Rapids schools.
Twenty-two students were selected as members of the 2019 ensembles: Ally Bouska, alto; Audrey Casterton, soprano; Joseph Courtney, bass; Finn Deen-Lester, bass; Lillian Grouws, alto; Adrian Huang, violin; Amber Hussain, alto; Leila Johnson, soprano; Nolan Jostand, tenor; Ruby Langholz, soprano; Sally Laybourn, string bass; Lily McGohan, oboe; AJ Morrow, bass; Dylan Muhlbauer, tenor; Michael Njus, tenor alternate; Sarah Pedlar, flute; Meg Sessions, French horn alternate; Lily Smith, soprano; Katie Storlie, alto; Mya Sullivan, violin; Elias Vorvick, trombone alternate; Peter Wilson, euphonium.
Noah Lovelace, tenor; Cooper McElree, bass; Thomas Ostlie, bass; and Daniel Skrade, tenor, were selected for a recall audition.
