Traffic accident results in $6,500 of damage

The Decorah Police Department responded to a 2-vehicle accident at the intersection of Hyw 9 and Old Stage Road on Friday morning.

82-year-old Iona Farley of Waukon was stopped at the red light on Hwy 9 and Old Stage Road. Meanwhile, 32-year old Christopher Schnuelle of Postville was approaching from behind and did not realize Farley was stopped. Schnuelle attempted to avoid a collision but was unable to, resulting in Schnuelle striking the rear of Farley's car. Schnuelle's 2002 Chevrolet Impala was disabled and sustained $5,000 of damage. Farley's 2008 Chevrolet Impala sustained $1,500 of damage. No injuries were reported.
