Decorah man arrested after stabbing another man during a fight

The Decorah Police were called to investigate an altercation between two male subjects at 2:35 a.m. Tuesday on Washington Street and East Main Street.

Upon arrival it was learned that 22-year-old Seth Schmidt of Decorah and John Schissel had engaged in a fight, during which Schmidt pulled a knife from his pocket and stabbed Schissel in the chest. Schmidt fled on foot and was apprehended a short time and distance away without incident. Schmidt was arrested and booked into the Winneshiek County Jail for Willful Injury and Carrying Weapons.
