Sam Hogenson was recently hired as Decorah's new City Forester. Hogenson, who grew up just south of Decorah, earned a degree in arboriculture from NICC. After earning his degree, Hogenson spent six years with Stevenson Total Tree Care, followed by six years as a utility arborist.
Hogenson told decorahnews.com he has three priorities in his new position: 1) tree safety, 2) street, sidewalk and boulevard clearing and cleaning, and 3) stream-lining the city's tree-care.
Hogenson is looking forward to his new responsibility, and he's looking forward to working with trees in a community he loves. Hogenson said: "We must ensure the continuous safety of our trees so that future generations can learn from our urban forests."
