Traffic could be heavier in Jackson Junction for the next three or four months, starting Monday. Construction crews will begin working Monday on ten miles of Chickasaw County Highway V-56, laying down a new surface.
The official detour for V-56 is a gravel road in Chickasaw County. However, both Winneshiek County and Chickasaw County Road Department staffers say they expect there to be an "unofficial" detour using Winneshiek County Highway V-64 starting in Jackson Junction.
Work on the project is expected to run through the end of October, so Jackson Junction might be getting heavier traffic for awhile.
