Second Ward City Councilperson Dan Bellrichard officially resigns

Second Ward Decorah City Council member Dan Bellrichard says he is stepping down from his job because he will be moving out of his district.

Decorah City Council members voted Monday night to appoint a replacement for Bellrichard, someone who will serve from August through October, with the position going before the voters on November 5th.

Bellrichard told his fellow city council members the job has been "a much more challenging role than I expected," but he said he'd like to continue his involvement with city government in another capacity.

Decorah City Council members will vote August 5th on the replacement for Bellrichard.  The person appointed then will have to decide whether to run for election in the November 5th balloting.
