Winneshiek Medical Center Decorah Clinic Audiology is beginning a partnership with the Starkey Hearing Foundation to offer a hearing aid recycling program in the area.
Anyone can use the program to donate any brand of used hearing aids. The hearing aids are sent in for rebate dollars from Starkey Foundation, which are then allocated to WMC patients who need assistance in paying for hearing aids or hearing aid supplies.
"We are able to refurbish some of the donated hearing aids to loan out to patients as well," says WMC/Mayo Clinic Health System audiologist Cynthia See. People can wear these demo models to experience how hearing aids can change their quality of life before making a decision to purchase.
