


Decorah firefighters on Thursday responded to an early morning call from 805 Day Street, where the person said a house fire was burning. Firefighters arrived at the home and found a mattress on fire in a bedroom. The resident was already outside of the house. The fire was extinguished and the resident was taken to Winneshiek Medical Center for evaluation. A police officer was treated for smoke inhalation. Fire damage was contained to the bedroom.
