Two students from St. Benedict's School in Decorah have qualified to compete at the National Day of History competition June 9th through the 13th at the University of Maryland in College Park, Maryland.
Alex Kane won the Jim Wengert Award for Labor History at the state History Day competition, thereby advancing to the National Contest with her Individual Performance, "Triumph After Tragedy: Frances Perkins and the New Deal."
Justin Berlage is also advancing to the National Contest on the strength of his historical paper titled: "Triumph and Tragedy:Penicillin's Discovery and Repercussions."
Now Fareway of Decorah is partnering with St. Benedict's to help raise money to pay for the trip. Six different types of meat bundles, ranging in price from $40 to $125, are being sold through Fareway. Orders and payments must be turned into the St. Benedict School offices by the end of the school day on Wednesday. NO late orders will be accepted. Checks should be made payable to St. Benedict School. Be sure to fill out the attached order form.
The bundles will be available for pickup at the Decorah Fareway store from May 22nd through May 30th. Simply state your name and bundle number.
