May is Historic Preservation Month

The Winneshiek County Board of Supervisors is proclaiming May as "Historic Preservation Month." Established in 1973 by the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the event is co-sponsored by local preservation groups, state historical societies, businesses and civic organizations.  This year's theme is "This Place Matters," a national campaign that encourages people to celebrate the places that are meaningful to them and to their communities.
