Decorah retains ranking in top ten school districts

The latest Iowa school district rankings are out from niche.com—and they show the Decorah School District dropping just a little for 2019—but still in the top ten in Iowa.

Overall the Decorah Community School District was ranked 10th out of all the school districts in Iowa—a drop of three spots from 2018.  Decorah High School had the best ranking of any of the individual schools—9th out of 330 high schools in Iowa.  The Decorah Middle School dropped to 33rd out of 267 middle schools in Iowa after being ranked 6th last year.  Carrie Lee Elementary was 68th out of Iowa's 654 elementary schools, while John Cline received a "B" grade, but was not ranked.

As with last year's survey, Decorah's academic and sports programs drew strongly favorable comments, as did the teachers and extracurricular programs, while Decorah's lack of diversity was the biggest complaint.
