Winneshiek County Supervisors have signed a proclamation declaring January "National Mentoring Month."
The mission of Helping Services' Youth Mentoring Program is to connect youth with a caring adult who can help them aspire, achieve, and develop to their fullest potential. Mentoring Coordinator Kathy Swartzhoff says the Mentoring Program served a total of 133 youth in 2018, with the help of 182 volunteers. "There is always a need for mentors, especially male mentors," says Schwartzhoff. Currently there are 9 youth awaiting mentoring matches in Winneshiek County.
Helping Serives Youth Mentoring Program is celebrating 21 years of service. If you would like to learn more about becoming a mentor, visit http://www.helpingservices.org/services/youth-mentoring-services/ or contact Kathy Schwartzhoff at 563-387-1720.
