Classes begin Thursday, August 23rd, in the Decorah School District. But teachers and academic staff members have headed back to school this week.
The Decorah School District will have ten new teachers this fall. Sonia Bockoven is a West Side preschool teacher. John Cline has two new second grade teachers--Karen Kuhn and Kristen Winter. Carrie Lee School also has two new employees--special education teacher Jonathon Koch and 4th grade teacher Tyler Wedemeier. Also, Amanda Hahn is the new guidance counselor at the elementary school level.
Decorah Middle School has three new teachers: 5th grade teacher Matt Amundson and special education teachers Casey Bouska and Michelle Ptacek. At Decorah High School, Spanish teacher Megan Gates is the lone newcomer.
