Dug Road Trail repaving project will begin soon

The repaving of Dug Road Trail will start later this month. City Engineer Lindsay Erdman says the contractor on the project will begin prep work for paving on the week of August 13th.

Erdman says there may be a few days in which the trail will be closed, but he's hoping to keep that at a minimum.

In addition to the repaving, crews will be cleaning out rock from the high side ditch along the trail, and will be putting in additional riprap on the portion of the hill which slides during heavy rainfall. The paving will be at the current width of 8 feet for the trail. Erdman says he's still hoping the Dug Road Trail can be widened to 10 feet, but since this project involves FEMA funds, which have a lot of strings attached, the trail will be repaved at its current width, with a wider width scheduled for the future.
